Alyssa's practice is a mixed media exploration of the experience of
alienation through the lens of nonsense illustrations. It bridges the gap
between those who experience ostracization and those who do not by
evoking empathy.
Her work is informed by the lived experience of autism and ADHD and how
this can create social separation. The visual bizarreness places the
audience in a position of misunderstanding, mimicking the artist's
experience of the literal world as chaotic.
She abstractly engages with these ideas to make them more accessible
and not limited to a single type of alienation. Thematically, the work can be
applied broadly to generate a discussion about how universal this feeling
