Kady Sands

My work explores trauma, the brain, and how past experiences shape our identity, perception, and physical sensations. I aim to express the overwhelming feelings of rumination and self-doubt visually. The unyielding thoughts that bind us, urging us to escape the very skin we inhabit.

Through fluid mark-making, films, and 3D forms, I translate these overwhelming sensations into tangible expressions and try to find ways to break free from them. Watercolour and ink serve as grounding tools, allowing my emotions to flow freely onto the page. In contrast, my 3D work, especially my masks, symbolizes the bridge between trauma and the untouched essence of who we tkadyly are underneath it all. Ultimately my practice focuses on fostering hope and demonstrating that healing is always within reach.
